A riot of colour

22.05.2019

High March was a riot of exuberant colour at the weekend, as our school community and many prospective parents turned out to view our annual art exhibition. We were all amazed by the high standards achieved by all our girls, from the youngest in Nursery to our oldest in Year 6, and it was a joy to watch them proudly pointing out their pieces of work to their parents.

The theme at Upper School this year was “The Americas” incorporating icons such as Walt Disney and Keith Haring and popular artists such as Frida Kahlo and Georgia O’Keeffe, the “Mother of American Modernism”. Traditional work from the Native Americans and Aztecs was also featured, as well as a wonderful display of hand and machine stitched quilts by Year 6, based on the work of Canadian artist Ted Harrison.

At Junior House, The Four Seasons and Under the Sea themes nestled along side a whole range of artists both contemporary and traditional. With a vast array of media and techniques featured, from embroidery and felting to claywork, silk painting and woodwork, Junior House girls excelled themselves.

We hope that you all enjoyed our exhibition!
