Learning Support

Our ethos in the Learning Support department is to work in partnership with children and their families to motivate and assist all children to develop a love of learning and make the best possible progress.

Neurodiversity is the idea that there is natural variation in how people’s brains work and how people experience, understand and interact with the world.  It is estimated that around one in seven people (more than 15 per cent of people in the UK) are neurodivergent; this includes more able children.  At High March we embrace and increase awareness of neurodiversity by participating in Neurodiversity Celebration Week, hosting parent and teacher coffee mornings and working in partnership with parents to organise neurodiversity events.  We recognise that there are natural differences in the way people learn and communicate and we provide adjusted provision to meet the learning needs of all children and to support their individual learning styles and strengths.  The learning support department is extremely well resourced.

High March prides itself on identifying additional needs at an early stage.  We meet the individual needs of children, including those with diagnosed Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) by implementing the graduated approach cycle of assess, plan, do and review. The child and their family are right at the centre of the cycle and developing supportive professional relationships with home, School and professionals is the key to the child’s happiness and success at High March.
