Pastoral Care

Pastoral Care

Throughout their time with us, the wellbeing and pastoral care of our pupils is of paramount importance.

We believe our high quality pastoral care is essential and strongly influences the warm, friendly, family atmosphere which pervades the School.

The School values of kindness and friendship underpin our pupils’ social and emotional development.  Our School rules: Be Kind, Be Ready, Be Respectful and Be Safe help our pupils to make positive choices and support them to keep on track ensuring that they are able to make the most of the opportunities provided, maximise their potential and experience success and a sense of wellbeing.

Our caring and dedicated staff, who really do ‘go the extra mile’, ensure pupils are supported and nurtured to be healthy, stay safe, enjoy and achieve and make a positive contribution.  Personal, Social, Health Education (PSHE) lessons, peer support from prefects, form time and form tutor tutorials, senior pastoral team ‘time to talk’ sessions, a trained medical and welfare officer and access to a School Counsellor are ways in which we provide support to pupils when it is needed. In addition, we recognise friendships can be tricky and difficult to navigate especially for girls. Specific support around friendships is offered to pupils through the Schools Girls on Board programme and our break time friendship and nurture group.  As pupils move through the School, they take on greater responsibility for their own happiness and the happiness of those around them.

We work in partnership with our parents and encourage open communication between home and the School to help support your child. Our staff make themselves available for consultations if parents have questions or concerns and seek the support of parents if problems arise.

The holistic approach taken with pastoral care and wellbeing which runs throughout the School creates our harmonious environment in which pupils are comfortable being themselves, are responsible citizens and know they are valued.  By the end of their time with us, High March girls transition to the next stage of their education with self-belief and inner confidence.
