Prefect Roles
By the time our pupils enter Year 6 they are well equipped to become Prefects who act as role models and embody the values of the School in every way.
All Year 6 pupils undertake a Prefect role during their final Year at High March. Pupils receive job descriptions for their role with key duties and desirable attributes and they are encouraged to set goals for their time as a Prefect at the start of the year. Prefects work in pairs alongside a staff mentor to undertake their duties and at the end of the year they spend some time reflecting on the experiences and skills they have developed over the course of the year.
Head Girls are appointed following applications in writing to the Headmistress. House Captains are elected by their peers in Upper School following hustings and an election. Games Captains, Swim Captains and the remaining wide range of Prefect roles are appointed by staff based on the strengthens and interests of pupils. Other Prefects may include Eco Committee Prefects, Charity Prefects, Librarian Prefects, Art, Music or Science Prefects and Junior Road Safety Officer Prefects.
All our Prefects have important roles to play during the School year and will regularly lead assemblies and represent the School at formal functions including School open mornings, remembrance services and local community events.
