Our core values are educational excellence, kindness and friendship, and this informs everything we do. These values help us ensure that every girl makes outstanding progress and develops a real love of learning. We take a pride in our caring and nurturing environment which allows every girl to develop and mature at her own pace. The happiness of our girls is paramount, and we place the utmost importance on ensuring that they feel happy, safe and loved at all times.
Above all, our aim is for every girl to thrive and feel happy and self-confident as she embarks on her journey to become a happy, confident and well-rounded young woman.
A warm welcome
In Reception, we provide a smooth transition from Nursery with Stay & Play sessions, Meet the Teacher sessions, and our Early Years staff also enjoy visiting new pupils in their current settings in preparation for them joining us at High March.
Skilled, experienced & caring staff
We have two parallel Reception classes with highly experienced staff. Each Reception class has its own dedicated Teaching Assistant. From the moment a child joins us, she is welcomed into our warm and vibrant community and, in no time at all, she will feel part of the High March family.
A broad curriculum
We provide a fantastic early years curriculum with a real focus on the individual. Each and every girl is valued for what she has to offer and she will be on her own, individual learning journey. With our small class sizes, the girls have plenty of personal attention and they are able to make outstanding progress.
An enriching environment
Reception has its own, well-resourced outdoor classroom to which the girls have access throughout the school day. There are extensive opportunities for play in the Junior House garden: which has its very own pirate ship, as well as an adventure play area, a play house and a musical instruments area!
Specialist teaching
In Reception, our girls benefit from specialist teaching each week in a number of subjects, such as Swimming, PE, Music, French, Forest School and optional Ballet. Swimming takes place throughout the year in our impressive, on-site, indoor 20-metre swimming pool and there are also opportunities for extra-curricular swimming lessons.
Wraparound care options available
We provide wraparound care for busy parents from 8.00am to 5.30pm, free of charge. We also have our ‘Up with the Larks’ breakfast club from 7.30am and ‘Late Stay’ from 5.30pm to 6.00pm (both of which incur a small charge). An action-packed holiday camp operates during the school holidays.
“High March provides a wonderfully, caring environment which nurtures the girls, encouraging their self-confidence, self-esteem and independence.”
