Art and Design Technology
The Art and Design Technology department at High March is exciting, inspiring and committed to excellence.
Pupils develop manual dexterity, fine motor skills and visual acuity and draw upon research, observations and imagination to tackle challenging projects in two and three dimensions.
In recent years High March has invested in a purpose-built Art and Technology suite, equipped with specialist machinery and a well-designed spacious work area. We have recently taken delivery of a set of potters’ wheels which has allowed us to broaden the scope of the girls’ work still further. Our pupils love this subject and enjoy a very wide range of artistic and practical activities, achieving particularly highly in drawing, painting, textiles, pottery and woodwork.
Much artwork is on display throughout the school and this forms an important part of the educational experience: celebrating the creative achievements of the pupils; illustrating and consolidating the standards of work expected and produced at High March and creating an inspiring and enriching environment where the work of others is appreciated.
The culmination of the creative work within the school is the Annual Art Exhibition, when the school is transformed into an exuberant celebration of colour and creativity, showcasing the vast array of work produced by all the pupils from Nursery to Year 6.
