A bronze medal at the ESSA championships
31.03.2026

At the end of term, our swimmers took part in the ESSA Teams Swimming Gala at Woodside Leisure Centre—an exciting and highly competitive event where all races are contested in relay format. The standard of competition was exceptionally high, with many fast and experienced swimmers from across the region. The gala ran from 7:00pm–9:30 pm, making it a particularly long evening for our pupils, who showed great commitment and energy throughout. Our team represented the school in both the freestyle and medley relays, fielding the fastest swimmers in the school for each event. Their hard work and determination were impressive from start to finish.
We were delighted to secure a bronze medal in the medley relay and, even more importantly, to qualify for the next phase of the competition, for both the freestyle and the medley relay: this will take place on 25th April at the Guildford Spectrum. Although we narrowly missed the chance to earn another medal in the freestyle relay, these experiences help us learn and refine our performance as we prepare for even stronger competition ahead. The swimmers should be incredibly proud of their achievements, resilience, and the mature way they handled a demanding late‑evening gala. They represented the school brilliantly.
Well done, girls!
