A competitive gala for Year 3

Our Year 3 girls took part in their first competitive gala here at High March against Westbrook Hay yesterday. There were quite a few nerves beforehand, but the girls all settled into racing once they had completed their warm-ups and we were treated to some superb swimming. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and mutual support. The girls swam magnificently and should be commended for not only their competitive spirit and determination, but also their excellent sportsmanship.

A special mention must go to Annabelle W who volunteered to step into a heat and then won, Annelise M for her perseverance and speed in her heat, which resulted in a first place, and to Arabella F for stepping out of her comfort zone to take part in the gala. Well done also to the ‘mini captains’ of the afternoon, Amber D and Harriet S, who gave a confident three cheers to the visiting team and then welcomed them for treats at the end.

Well done, Year 3, a great result all round! We look forward to seeing you compete next year as you move into Year 4.
