A day full of excitement and discovery

31.03.2026

Our Year 1 trip to Chiltern Open Air Museum was a wonderful adventure and a day full of excitement and discovery!

We had a fantastic time pond dipping, where the children were thrilled to explore the water and see what they could find. They discovered plenty of fascinating creatures, including wriggly worms, pond snails, speedy pond skaters and many other amazing pond inhabitants. The excitement continued during our woodland activity session, where the girls enjoyed exploring nature even further and spotting creatures in their natural habitats.

Another part of the day included visiting a historic house which was furnished just as it would have been 100 years ago. The children were fascinated to see how people used to live and had some great discussions about how homes and daily life have changed compared to today.

Despite a surprise spell of hail, the weather certainly didn’t dampen our spirits. If anything, it added to the adventure! The girls showed wonderful enthusiasm and resilience and their sparkle shone through all day long.
