An action-packed time in Austria!
19.02.2024
A wonderful week was spent skiing in Flachau, Austria. Although most of the year group had tried out skiing before at an indoor slope, for the majority of Year 6, this was their first experience of skiing in a mountain resort. Nevertheless, it was not long before everyone found their ‘ski legs’ and progressed from the nursery slopes and took the chair lift up to the beautiful long runs at the top. The beginner groups made excellent progress, with some even starting to practise parallel turns, whilst the more experienced skiers honing their skills, skiing with both speed and style.
Once skiing was over for the day, the après ski activities ensured the fun continued. From rock climbing and a trip to the local pool with wave machine and flumes, to bowling and an exhilarating ride on the toboggan run, the ‘Lucky Flitzer’, there was something for everyone to enjoy. There was also a talent show and disco to round off the week away.
During their time away, Year 6 demonstrated courage, resilience and great camaraderie. Despite being tired when they returned, they were bursting with stories and memories to share with their friends and families and which will last them a life time.
