A festive gala to round off the year
On Wednesday 30th November the Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 Swim Squads had their annual Xmas gala. The girls were all put into teams, with names chosen by our Swim Captains Freya H, Alana F and Gracie M. We had the ‘’Brussel Sprouts, ‘Candy Canes’, ‘Lindt Chocolate Balls’ and ‘Pigs in Blankets’.
The girls were very excited and dressed for the occasion with some wearing festive hats to cheer on their peers. Poolside was filled with festive cheer and music to get everyone into the Christmas spirit. The team captains displayed great organisational skills when preparing their swimmers for the individual and relay races. The scores were very close throughout the evening but the Candy Canes stood out for showing great depth and consistency in their race placings. The final race, a squadron, which includes girls from each year group, is worth double the points which meant that the Brussel Sprouts, Lindt balls and Pigs in Blankets had everything to swim for. The final placings were the Candy Canes in first place with 97 points, the Brussel Sprouts in second place, followed very closely in third place by the Pigs in Blankets. Last, but by no means least, were the Lindt chocolate balls with 83 points.
A fantastic evening, girls! Well done to you all and Merry Christmas!
