A memorable week in Devon for Year 5
06.06.2025
What an unforgettable week it was for Year 5 during their residential adventure to Barton Hall near Torquay! With glorious sunshine and breathtaking surroundings, the girls fully embraced every challenge and experience with boundless enthusiasm and a positive, “have a go” attitude.
From paddleboarding and zip lining to archery and scaling Jacob’s Ladder, the days were packed with exciting outdoor activities. Evenings brought their own fun — from singing songs around the campfire and toasting marshmallows to creating catwalk-worthy junk fashion and taking part in a thrilling ‘Passport to the World’ treasure hunt. Sharing dormitories with friends added to the excitement, and the delicious food was enjoyed by all.
A highlight of the week was the midweek curriculum day excursion to Kents Caverns and Dawlish Warren. The children explored dramatic coastal landscapes and discovered the incredible geology of 400-million-year-old rocks, complete with awe-inspiring stalactites and stalagmites. And of course, no trip to the seaside would be complete without an ice cream on the beach!
Throughout the week, every pupil showed tremendous resilience, team spirit and personal growth. Their willingness to support each other and step outside their comfort zones was truly inspiring — building both inner confidence and lasting memories.
Well done, Year 5 – you made us all incredibly proud!
