A string of first places at the IAPS qualifier gala

Earlier this week, ten girls from Years 5 and 6 travelled to Maltman’s Green for the regional IAPS swimming gala. This event is a qualifier for the IAPS Nationals, which will take place at the London Aquatics Centre in the summer term. We were informed at the gala that thirty similar events will be held across the country, with only the twenty or so fastest swimmers qualifying for the Nationals.

Our girls were excited but also aware of the tough competition, as every participant nationwide would be hoping to qualify. They swam brilliantly, securing first place in the Year 6 medley relay, the Year 5 freestyle relay, backstroke for both Years 5 and 6, and freestyle for Year 5. We are extremely proud of their outstanding performances and now eagerly await the results.

The final qualifiers for the nationals will be announced in late April, and we are all keeping our fingers crossed.
