A tough Duathlon

14.10.2021

Earlier this week, nine girls from each of Years 4, 5 and 6 took part in the Davenies Duathlon, the format of which is a run, followed by a cycle, followed by another run. It’s a tough event requiring speed, endurance and bike handling skills and the High March girls showed great team spirit, determination and organisational skills.

Competition is usually very stiff but this year we had an extremely strong showing from Caroline in Year 6, who raced up the leader board, taking second place in the Year 6 event. With no racing last year due to COVID, the competition was slightly different this year and we were split into teams comprising 3 boys and 3 girls. The Year 4 event was won by the Panthers, with the Cheetahs winning the Year 5 event and the Jaguars the Year 6 race.

Congratulations to everyone who took part and, in particular, to our medallists Elisa, Amberley, Karman, Grace, Eva, Jess, Tessa, Lottie and Lucia.

Special thanks go to the Triathlon Club girls who explained safe cycling etiquette to their teammates ensuring that we arrived at Davenies on time and, most importantly, safely!
