A Visit to the Natural History Museum in Tring
15.11.2023
On Friday, Year 1 pupils visited the Natural History Museum in Tring. The museum was once a private museum which belonged to Lionel Walter, 2nd Baron Rothschild but today it is under the control of the Natural History Museum, London. It houses one of the finest collections of stuffed mammals, birds, reptiles and insects in the United Kingdom
It was an exciting and busy day for all the girls. They enjoyed a hands-on workshop where they were able to touch the animals and they thought about how animals might be sorted, based on their characteristics. The girls had time to explore the galleries, which were full of an incredibly diverse range of wonderful creatures. The children also enjoyed the simple aspects of the trip like going on a coach journey with their friends and having their packed lunches together. They came back to school very tired, but also very excited.
It is wonderful that the children are able to supplement their learning with real hands-on experiences like this.
