An Autumnal Adventure for Year 1

06.10.2025

Year 1 had a gorgeous time at Forest School this week, making the most of the lovely sunny weather! The children were full of excitement as they returned to the woods and noticed how much the trees had changed since their last visit in the summer. The golden leaves, crunchy underfoot, and the crisp autumn air made it the perfect setting for a seasonal adventure.

The day began with a cosy autumn story, setting the scene for a morning of exploration. The children went on an autumn scavenger hunt, collecting colourful leaves, acorns, and other signs of the season.

In the afternoon, creativity bloomed as they used conkers to make stick people, complete with braided wool hair. Over in the mud kitchen, some delicious (pretend!) autumn soup was cooked up using twigs, leaves, and lots of imagination. One of the highlights of the day was racing autumn fruits down the big tubes – laughter and cheers filled the forest!

We ended our session gathered together for a lovely song, bringing a perfect close to a joyful and adventurous day. Well done, Year 1 – what a great time you had!
