An interactive Florence Nightingale Day
03.02.2021
Despite being in lock down, earlier this week Year 2 girls were able to participate in a hands-on day provided by ‘History off the Page’ on the theme of the life and times of Florence Nightingale.
All the props and items the girls needed for the day had already been distributed so they were able to participate fully in the many activities planned for the day; these included writing a diary entry, using a dip pen to write a job application, making a medal, a bag of herbs and a lantern with a tea light. (Parents will be glad to hear that warnings were given about the need to avoid spilling ink on pale carpets!) History Off the Page also provided video input to give the girls additional historical context.
The day gave the girls an added insight into the life and times of Florence Nightingale and everyone agreed it was a really enjoyable day.
