Bronze medals in Cross Country
04.03.2026

On Monday 4th March, sixteen girls from Years 4, 5 and 6 took part in a cross-country race at Westbrook Hay School.
Unusually for cross-country (!), we had a lovely sunny day. The team walked the course together and then prepared for the start. The Year 4 team went first. They lined up, shoulder to shoulder with girls from six other schools, and headed off around the 1.6km course. All returned safely, despite one team member losing a shoe to the mud and needing to put it back on half-way around! The Year 5 and 6 team went next. Nerves were shaken off and, at the gun, away they all flew around the longer 2km course. Everyone ran very well and demonstrated great resilience, teamwork and gratitude to our hosts. The organiser even told Ms St Croix how impressed he was with our teams.
We were delighted to bring home two bronze medals! Congratulations to Penny in Year 4 and Inaya in Year 5 and also to the whole Year 4 team who won the team shield for their year group.
