Celebrating Harvest Festival
12.10.2026

Harvest Festival celebrations in October provided a wonderful opportunity for the High March community to come together in support of others and to give thanks for the many things we enjoy.
We welcomed Gail from Slough Foodbank to High March for a special assembly in which she explained why some families may need support and shared the journey of our harvest donations. Pupils learned how food is purchased in supermarkets, donated at school, delivered to Slough Foodbank, sorted by volunteers, taken to a distribution centre and ultimately provided to local families in need. ‘A simple act of kindness can make a big difference in our local community’ was a key message that truly resonated with our core school values. We are extremely grateful to everyone who donated so generously.
Our celebrations then continued with a wonderful Harvest Service at St Michael’s and All Angels Church. Year 6 pupils led the service beautifully with harvest poems and songs, alongside congregational hymns and a fantastic rendition of Eat Your Greens! We were delighted that Reverend Lucy Fyfe-Jamieson was able to join us too and spoke to the congregation about seeds of hope that may grow and nourish us in the future. A particular highlight was the stunning harvest display created by Mrs Bissett, featuring many of the donation food from our families, with an amazing harvest loaf baked by Chef Chris taking pride of place at the centre. Our Year 6 Charity Prefects then helped organise the donations before they were loaded into the school van and delivered to Slough Foodbank, who were delighted to receive such a sizable donation.
Many parents were able to join us for the Harvest Service and generously supported the NSPCC through the retiring collection, which raised an impressive £450. Together, our school community made a real difference to local families and charities this harvest season.
