Celebrating our cultural differences

04.11.2026

Our recent Cultural Day was a wonderful celebration of the many cultures, interests and traditions that make up our school community. The day encouraged us to think about culture in its broadest sense, recognising that culture is not only shaped by nationality or religion, but also by our sports, food, music, art, clothing, dance, languages, hobbies and family traditions.

Children arrived at school dressed proudly in outfits that represented one or more aspects of their own culture. It was fantastic to see such a colourful and diverse range of clothing on display, with every outfit helping to tell a unique story about the children and families in our school.

Throughout the day, pupils took part in a wide variety of exciting activities within their lessons, exploring different cultures, traditions and ways of life from around the world. As they completed each experience, children collected stamps in their special passports, creating a lasting record of the cultural journey they had undertaken.

Lunchtime was a particular highlight. The playground came alive with traditional games from around the world, while many of our parents gave up their time to share their knowledge, talents and experiences. Children had the opportunity to learn about different forms of art, listen to songs from a variety of cultures, explore traditional clothing, watch and join in with dances, and discover foods and customs from many countries and religions.

The day was filled with excitement, curiosity and fun, but most importantly it provided an opportunity for children to learn from one another. By celebrating both our similarities and our differences, pupils gained a deeper understanding of the diverse world around them and the richness that different perspectives bring to our community.

A huge thank you to all the families, staff and volunteers who helped make the day such a success. Together, we showed that when we take the time to learn from each other, our school becomes an even stronger, more welcoming and vibrant place for everyone.
