Exploring the natural world
15.07.2025
It was a perfect summer’s day for Year 2’s recent trip to RHS Wisley, which was undertaken as part of their learning about living things and their habitats. The ever-changing and abundant plant life provided the girls with rich opportunities to observe, sketch and discuss how different plants adapt to a variety of environments. Highlights of the visit included spotting frogs and newts in the tropical zone, much to the delight of the girls. A picturesque stroll through the rock gardens and among the bonsai trees—some over 80 years old—led the girls to a scenic lunch spot nestled among cornflowers.
In the afternoon, the impressive fruit and vegetable gardens helped the girls appreciate the importance of homegrown produce. The visit concluded with a woodland scavenger hunt, offering some welcome shade as the temperature rose. Throughout the day, the girls demonstrated one of our core values: curiosity. Their thoughtful questions and keen observations reflected a genuine interest in the natural world around them.
