Fantastic results at the Division 10 Gala

On February 1st, a group of Year 4, 5 and 6 girls took part in the Division 10 swimming gala at Haberdashers’ Aske’s school. The gala was not without its challenges, as we were short of a Year 6 swimmer and two girls, Amber D and Alice R, had to step up and swim in the year group above. We are pleased to report that they both did brilliantly and were not the least bit daunted by the stiff competition.

All swimmers had demonstrated significant progress since the start of the year and, consequently, we were treated to some exceptional swimming and racing. Some of the highlights were Annabel winning the first place in the 100m Individual Medley and Butterfly, Harriet, Evie and Elizabeth winning first place in the Year 4, 5 and 6 backstroke and, in addition, Belle, Zoe and Cara winning the Breaststroke race for Years 4, 5 and 6. Other first places were Gabriella and Isabelle winning the Freestyle for Years 4 and Year 5.

In the relays our Year 4,5 and 6 teams won first place in the Medley relay and Years 5 and 6 also won the freestyle relay.

We can confidently say that we had a very successful and strong representation in this swimming gala; the highlight of the night was very definitely Alice R, who won the Year 6 freestyle event despite competing against girls in the year above. Well done to all our swimmers – a great set of results!
