Gold medals for our swimmers at the ESSA qualifiers

18.03.2022

On Friday 8th March, Tilly, Eva P, Alice, and Mylah in Year 6 went to Watford for the ESSA Qualifiers. Here is a report on the evening written by Mylah and Alice.

‘We only had relay races and there were two of each: two medley relays and two freestyle relays. The first medley was a time trial to qualify for the finals in Sheffield. Our time was 1 minute 18 seconds, so we were incredibly pleased. For the second medley, we had to race in a heat versus six other schools and our times were so fast we won gold. We were so happy that we won gold! Eva’s backstroke start was brilliant, Tilly’s breaststroke was super speedy, Alice’s fly was on point and Mylah’s freestyle was fabulous!

In the freestyle relays, our first race, which was also for the finals in Sheffield, was very fast. In our second freestyle relay race, which was to win a medal, we dominated once again and won gold!

We are extremely happy about winning two golds and adding two more shields to our trophy cabinet. Fingers crossed that our times are fast enough to qualify for the finals in Sheffield! And thank you to Ms Norman, Mrs Baxter and Mrs Mcalister for their excellent coaching and support – we could not have done it without them.’
