High March re-creates the Great Fire of London
25.09.2020
As part of their Great Fire of London project, Year 2 girls made models of Tudor style houses and they all gathered together in the playground earlier this week to make a mini 1666 City of London on a fire mat.
From a safe distance, they watched as Mrs Gray set the houses alight. The weather conditions were perfect – fanning the flames and spreading them through the buildings. It was not long before all the buildings were burnt leaving only ash and charcoal. It was a memorable experience for the girls and one which allowed them to have a little bit of a first-hand experience of fire and its devastating consequences.
