On Saturday, June 7, High March School made a remarkable splash at the IAPS Swimming Finals held at the iconic London Aquatics Centre. The IAPS Swimming Finals are a prestigious event where approximately 4,600 swimmers from over 400 schools participate in regional qualifying galas held across the country during the spring term. From these qualifiers, the fastest 1,500 swimmers are invited to compete in the national finals. Our team of five swimmers, with two individuals and a relay, showed determination, and sportsmanship, setting new personal bests in every race.
An incredible performance came from our Year 6 swimmer in the individual backstroke event. Achieving a personal best time of 35.47 seconds, she secured a national bronze medal, finishing third nationally. This remarkable result is without a doubt earned by the dedication and hard work invested in training.
Another impressive performance was delivered by our Year 5 swimmer in the individual freestyle event. With a time of 41.82 seconds, she improved from 18th to 16th place nationally, demonstrating significant progress and commitment.
Our Year 6 medley relay team, comprising four swimmers, achieved a time of 1:33.35, improving upon their qualifying time of 1:13.88. This collective effort placed them 19th nationally, highlighting their teamwork and perseverance.
The achievements of our swimmers at the IAPS Swimming Finals are remarkable! Our girls demonstrated dedication, sportsmanship, maturity and resilience making everyone at High March incredibly proud.
