Learning about other religions
14.06.2023
Year 2 recently visited Watford Synagogue as part of their Religious Studies work on Judaism. The girls were able to share their knowledge and see objects that they were able to identify such as The Ark, The Eternal Lamp, The Torah and The Yad. It was lovely to hear Alan, a helper at the Synagogue, talk to the girls about the origins of Judaism; he also asked the girls to have a go at saying Hebrew words and to try and blow the ram’s horn , which was very difficult. They also tried on some kippah and a prayer shawl.
Our girls listened really well and were able to demonstrate great respect in a special place of worship. As they left they all said ‘Shalom’, which means peace be with you.
