Medals for our triathletes

17.05.2024

High March Triathlon Club members were out in force on Sunday, May 12 where 16 girls took part in the Hatch End Triathlon. The race format follows British Triathlon rules with Year 4 racing in TriStar 1, Year 6 racing in TriStar 2 and Year 5 split between the two depending on their birthday.

TriStar 1 involved swimming 165m, cycling 2km and running 1.2km.

TriStar 2 involved swimming 212m, cycling 3km and running 1.8km.

Hatch End Triathlon is a superbly organised, local competition, organised by knowledgeable and kind volunteers. The day started with an adult race, and we were there just in time to see Mrs Bridges finish strongly.

Despite the event taking place on one of the hottest days of the year so far, all our girls raced beyond expectations and enjoyed great support from their families, teammates and the super proud coaches. Particular recognition goes to Zoe (Year 5), taking the top step of the podium in TriStar 1 and to  Iris (Year 5) taking 2nd in TriStar 2, despite being one of the youngest in her race. Crowds gathered throughout the day supporting and cheering everyone as they raced.

Triathlon, for nearly all of us, is about being the best that you can be for yourself on the day and few of us make it to the podium. To everyone who raced, be extremely proud of those finisher medals! You managed it all with smiles and politeness which were commented on by many of the officials and other parents. You did yourselves and High March proud!

Next stop IAPS Triathlon and then Henley…..
