Plenty to discover in the woods!

On Friday 17 May, Year One enjoyed a day in the sunshine at the Field Studies Centre, Amersham, Mop End.

We made the most of the good weather and spent the day outside in the woodlands. The girls enjoyed the challenge of naming a range of trees and impressed the leader with their phonological knowledge when reading the tree cards given. The girls took part in a number of games including being blindfolded, walked to a tree by their peers and then identifying the tree. The afternoon was spent finding mini beasts. The girls showed great enthusiasm, looking in moss, under logs and fallen leaves. The finds were impressive, from huge slugs to rainbow beetles.

Our thanks go to the staff at the centre, the parents who accompanied the trip and the girls for sharing with us so many ‘wow’ moments.
