Reception head to Windsor Castle
07.11.2022
Reception had a lovely day at Windsor Castle last week; the journey was quick and easy and the girls loved being on the big coach.
When we arrived at the castle, we had our snack and then had a wonderful workshop all about castles. We learnt about the history of Windsor Castle and all about ‘bad King John’. The girls also discovered how the enemies tried to sneak into the castle and they even had the chance to try and throw arrows at the pretend castle during the workshop! We learnt some new vocabulary too, including arrow split, moat and battlements.
Next we went to look around the State Apartments but, unfortunately, the royal standard wasn’t flying which meant the King wasn’t in residence. However, we saw the beautiful rooms and talked about his Coronation and the beautiful crown which will be centre stage.
We then had to be really quiet as we walked around King George’s chapel. We saw the late Queen Elizabeth’s final resting place and the beautiful candles which had been lit in her memory.
After lunch, we headed back to school on the coach. We were all exhausted and some of the girls had a sleep on the way back where they dreamed about our amazing day at Windsor Castle and all the wonderful things they had seen.
