Recognising and celebrating Neurodiversity
02.05.2025
From Nursery to Year 6, we all had lots of fun recently celebrating Neurodiversity; we had balloons, High March ‘Minds of every kind’ logo cupcakes, assemblies and class activities.
In the Junior House assembly children explored that all our brains are different; we all feel, think and learn differently and that is a good thing! Children shared ways which help them to learn, for example using colour to chunk spellings, moving when learning and working with a partner. In the Upper School assembly, when Mrs Dale, Head of Learning Support, asked what ‘Neurodiversity’ means, a sea of hands responded thus reinforcing our collective understanding that at High March we celebrate and support Minds of Every Kind every single day.
Neurodiversity Celebration Week assemblies also promoted awareness of neurodiversity with specific names, including Dyslexia, Developmental Coordination Disorder, ADHD/ADD and Autism. When learning more about a particular neurodiversity, the focus was on recognising strengths and learning about individuals who have harnessed their talents to achieve success across all walks of life.
