Second place at our first ever Wishford Athletics Meet
23.06.2025
On Thursday, 12 June, twenty-eight girls travelled to Bracknell Athletics Stadium for our first ever Wishford Athletics Competition. The girls were very excited and it was a lovely day. Lots of parents came to support and Mrs Gater and the Headteachers from all the other seven Wishford Schools attending were there to offer support.
The girls went around a carousel in year groups: Track – 60m,150m & 600m; Jumps – high jump & long jump; Throws – shot put & vortex; and, finally, Tug of War. At the end there were the sprint finals and relays.
The girls all performed brilliantly, especially when you take into consideration the fact that this was their first time of competing in some of the events. To our delight, we came away with several gold medals. In Year 3, we won the shot put, long jump and relay whilst in Year 4 we won the long jump and came 2nd in 150m, shot put, high jump and relay. In Year 5, we won the shot put and vortex and came a close 3rd in the relay. In Year 6 we came 2nd in the 150m and high jump and a close 3rd in the relay.
When the final results were announced, we were thrilled to have come second out of the eight schools competing, with Westonbirt School taking the win.
The girls all performed brilliantly and had a great day out. They are looking forward to the next Wishford Athletics meet.….
