Sports Day in the sun
24.06.2026

On a sunny Friday morning we welcomed parents into Junior House to cheer on the excited Nursery Wrens and Nursery Robins classes in their Sports Days. The children enjoyed racing in the sprint race, the beanbag and bat race and the quoit on head race. The grand finale of the much-anticipated dressing up race did not disappoint, with jaunty hats and handbags decorating our smiling runners. Lots of fun was had by all and the children were delighted to each receive a medal, proudly displaying them on a lap of honour after the races.
The following day, we started off with Junior House Sports Day in the morning and, fortunately, the weather was wonderfully kind with sunny skies and a cool breeze. The girls enjoyed working their way around the carousel and competing in all the events from sack races to egg and spoon. Great sportsmanship and effort was displayed throughout. A big thank you to the Sports Captains and Head Girls for all their help with the smooth running of each event.
After the lunch break, it was time for Upper School Sports Day with shot put, javelin, long jump, sprints and relay. All the girls put their training efforts to good effect and achieved some personal bests in front of the cheering crowds. Again, we were so proud to see such wonderful sportsmanship and team behaviours. We finished, as always with everyone participating in the brilliant Human Caterpillar Race – great fun! To round off the afternoon our sports captains delivered their speeches to an attentive audience and, at the very end of the proceedings, the House Cup was awarded to Thistle House.
All the girls did very well indeed, showing great determination and resilience. We are very proud of them all!
