Superb results at the National Biathlon Championships
27.03.2025
On Sunday 23rd March, 16 girls from High March raced at Bath University in the Schools Biathlon Championships. This national championship is highly competitive, and qualification is very difficult with only the top 60 – 70 girls from across the country in each year group being offered a place.
The event comprises a 50m swim and an 800m run for Years 5 and 6, with distances for Year 4 being halved. Times are converted to points and a combined score of 2000 points is very impressive. Congratulations to Zoe, Evie, Alice and Iris in Year 6 who each achieved the magic 2000 points score. In Year 5, Amber also achieved a magical 2012 points with Primrose, Olivia and Harriet scoring very close.
Mia recorded the 2nd fastest Year 4 swim time (16.6 sec) with Annie finishing 5th. Overall, Liv, Eliza, Annie, Mia, Isla and Lily all scored over 2000 points with Darcy and Bella also demonstrating their fitness and skill.
Enormous congratulations to Zoe who finished in 9th place overall at the Schools Biathlon Championships. To be in the top 10 in the country is a highly significant achievement! The top 3 scores from each school are combined into a team and we are exceptionally proud to announce that High March Year 6 girls (Zoe, Evie and Alice) came 2nd as a team. This group of 4, including Iris, have now medalled at every championship in each of Year 4, 5 and 6. In the words of our Triathlon coach, Mrs McAlister, “You are a joy to work with, you train hard and are wonderfully supportive to each other and to the other year groups. Well done, girls.”
Congratulations to everyone who took part in the finals – you were all a credit to High March!
