Taking part in the NSPCC Number Day
14.02.2025
On Friday 7th February, students and staff participated in the annual NSPCC Number Day, a fun and engaging event aimed at raising awareness and supporting the NSPCC’s vital work in protecting children. The day was packed with a variety of activities that celebrated numbers in creative ways while promoting the importance of maths education. The event successfully combined learning and fundraising, contributing to the charity’s ongoing initiatives.
One of the most exciting parts of the day was the “Dress as a Digit” theme, where participants dressed up as numbers, showcasing their creativity. Students and staff embraced the challenge, arriving at school dressed as everything from the number “1” to more complex number combinations. The creativity on display added an element of fun and excitement to the day.
At Upper School, maths lessons took on a more interactive and playful twist. Teachers organised fun and engaging maths activities, encouraging students to solve number puzzles, participate in group challenges, and explore new mathematical concepts in exciting ways.
At Junior House, the Foundation Stage pupils enjoyed a range of number based activities in their classes whilst pupils in Years 1 and 2 spent the morning ‘off-curriculum’ taking part in a carousel of fun mathematical activities, which included using money in a shop to purchase some special treats, making clocks, breaking codes and seeing if different shapes were able to tesselate or not. A wonderful opportunity to see Maths in its broadest sense!
The fun didn’t stop at the end of lessons. During break and lunchtime, students had the opportunity to participate in various maths-themed activities, one of the highlights being the number-based darts challenge.
As part of the day’s celebrations, students were encouraged to make donations towards the NSPCC, supporting the charity’s work to keep children safe and provide vital services for those in need.
