Visiting the Queen’s home
14.11.2019
Reception had a lovely day at Windsor Castle last week; the journey was quick and easy and the girls felt very grown-up sitting on the coach. The visit to Windsor Castle was part of their ‘Houses and Homes’ topic and they were keen to see what the Queen’s home looked like. They were thrilled to see the Royal Standard flying, as they knew that this meant that the Queen was in residence.
First of all, the girls participated in a fun workshop where they had to find the naughty dragons hidden in the castle. Next they climbed over a red rope and entered the state apartments for a story; they all dressed up as different characters, which added to the excitement.
The girls also had the opportunity to see the Queen’s dolls’ house and they all wished they could have stayed for longer to play with it, as it was certainly a very impressive dolls’ house. They also visited the chapel to see where the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were married. Towards the end of the visit, they saw a royal guard and some of the girls enjoyed marching next to him.
By the end of the day, the girls were all tired and quite a few of them fell asleep on the coach ride back to school, no doubt dreaming about the amazing day they had had at Windsor Castle.
