High March swimmers are victorious against Davenies!
05.07.2024
Yesterday our girls had their last swimming gala of the year against Davenies. It’s an annual tradition for High March to take up the challenge to beat the boys. Everyone was very motivated and driven and, after a quick warm up, we were all ready to give our best.
We started with the IM where Astrid finished first, making this a great start for High March. In fact, we managed to hold several first places in many heats. In Backstroke we won all the heats, the winners being Mia in Year 3, Harriet in Year 4, Evie in Year 5 and Elizabeth in Year 6. We were equally victorious in breaststroke with Amber in Year 4, Iris in Year 5 and Elisa in Year 6. Zoe in Year 5 and Annabel in Year 6 were in fine form, winning the butterfly. In the freestyle, Astrid put in an impressive performance, achieving first place.
At the end we had our relays and, as always, we had very strong performances from High March. We won first place in most relays and also did exceptionally well in the squadrons. As you might have guessed from all the first places, we managed to win with 159 points vs 122 for Davenies.
Well done to all our swimmers who contributed to this exceptional result and a special ‘thank you’ to the Swim Captains for looking after our younger swimmers and being such a great role model for them. Their supportive and inspiring attitude has been greatly appreciated.
As this was the last swimming gala of the year, we have to say a huge ‘well done’ to everyone for going the extra mile this year. The great results we have are achieved are testament to the dedication and hard work of all our swimmers. We are already looking forward to next year’s adventures! Well done, High March.
