Our swimmers power through at the Division 10 Gala
01.03.2024
On Tuesday 27 February, 24 girls took part in another Division 10 swimming gala at St Helen’s. Our girls were very excited and keen to do well. It was evident from the very start that the team spirit was strong and, after a short warm-up the girls were delighted to start competing. From the very first event, the 100IM with Annabel and Elisa, it was clear that our girls were on top form, with our first two swimmers finishing in first and second place. In fact, the majority of our swimmers finished first or second place in their individual races and this pattern was reproduced for most of the relays. Some of the first places of note were Harriet, Evie and Elizabeth for backstroke, Amber and Cara first place in breaststroke, Zoe and Annabel on butterfly, Gabriella, Belle and Astrid for Front crawl. We had two teams competing at the same time on every relay and, again, we finished first place for all year groups.
In the final tally of results, our Year 4 and Year 6 squads won whilst Year 5 notched up a creditable draw with Abbots Hill school. Overall, we secured 187 points in total, achieving first place. The girls were delighted with their performance and on the coach back home there was plenty of singing in celebration of their wins. Here are some quotes from our girls:
‘It was really fun and everyone was really friendly,’ – Laura.
‘It was fun and I really enjoyed it,’-Sophie
Well done to all our swimmers – it was a great team win!
