Back in time to the Fire of London
29.09.2023
On Monday 25th September Year 2 enjoyed taking part in the ‘History of the Page’ Fire Of London Workshop.
In the morning the girls were able to make a variety of items linked to the time period such as candles, clay button moulds, a monogrammed handkerchief, medicine sachets and leather worked bookmarks and they also tried their hand at writing with a quill. The girls were fully immersed in the experience of being a Londoner at the time of the tragic fire of 1666 and we even had a pupil eager to ring the bell and ask Londoners to bring out their dead!
In the afternoon the girls became archaeologists, digging through the soil, looking for clues from the past.
Thank you to all the parents who helped in the activities and added to an exciting day of history.
