Gold Level of Water Safety

During the Summer term, High March took part in a programme to raise awareness about water safety during Drowning Prevention week. Our pupils are strong swimmers with the ability to keep themselves and others safe and, in addition, High March has always ensured that our pupils are educated about and aware of the risks and potential dangers around and in bodies of water.

Our training program with RLSS (Royal Life Saving Society) consisted of three parts, namely a theoretical classroom-based exercise, a practical session in the water and a first aid course, the latter having been completed independently earlier in the year. The girls really enjoyed the sessions and they certainly learned a great deal from the programme.

After seeing our evidence, RLSS congratulated us for the work we do in swimming and water safety and awarded us the Gold level of the Water Smart Schools water safety award.
