Making memories in Devon
09.06.2026

Our Year 5 residential trip to Barton Hall in Devon was an unforgettable experience, filled with adventure, challenge and personal growth. Set within the stunning South Devon countryside, the trip provided the perfect backdrop for pupils to step outside their comfort zones, strengthen friendships and develop independence.
The programme of adventurous activities encouraged every pupil to challenge themselves in new and exciting ways. Whether taking a leap on the Leap of Faith Trapeze, conquering fears on the abseiling wall, reaching new heights in climbing, balancing skill and determination during paddleboarding, or demonstrating focus and precision in archery, the girls showed tremendous bravery and determination. Equally important were the team-building tasks that developed communication, problem-solving and collaboration skills.
Although personal development is at the heart of the Barton Hall experience, the trip also provided valuable curriculum enrichment. Along the South Devon coast, pupils undertook coastal fieldwork at Dawlish Warren, investigating coastal erosion and management techniques in a real-world setting. A visit to the remarkable Kents Cavern caves was another highlight. Exploring this fascinating site allowed the girls to learn about the geology of the cliffs and discover how early humans lived and used the caves.
Evenings at Barton Hall were just as memorable as the daytime adventures. Singing songs around the campfire while toasting marshmallows created a wonderful sense of community and joy.
We are incredibly proud of all the girls for their enthusiasm, resilience and courage throughout the trip. They embraced every opportunity with positivity and determination, making lasting memories and demonstrating excellent teamwork and independence. The Year 5 residential at Barton Hall is always a special milestone, and this group truly rose to the occasion. Well done to each and every one of them!
